Bye Bye Mr. Gazebo

It is a wonderful overcast day and the air smells like fall.  I've always loved fall and spring.  Duh...the best weather of the year, I would guess everyone loves fall and spring.

I love fall because by the time it rolls around, I am quite tired of the 'hot' of summer.  I love spring because it is like watching life come alive all around me.  Trees begin budding, flowers are blooming, the grass is greening up.  It just makes me smile to walk outside in the spring and feel the sun on my face.

The only news on our front is that we tore down the gazebo last weekend.  I say 'we' very loosely.   I helped cart off some of the roof and threw it in the truck but Tom did all the really hard work.  He was the one ripping it apart.  Why did we tear it down you might ask yourself.  Well, it was beginning to rot.  I had stained it almost every year since we built it but since the wood wasn't treated before we built it, it just wasn't holding up that well.  (Word to the wise, don't buy a gazebo kit from Amish Gazebos.)  So...bye bye Mr. Gazebo...

We have ordered a vinyl one with a metal roof.  The metal roof will be charcoal colored and the vinyl is called elegant ivory.  (Right...like it is really anything other than just ivory...ha!)  This one will be screened in and it will have a door.  Cool, huh?  (Take that! I say to the Bird Family that ate berries and left the remnants in our gazebo all year long.)

Here is a picture of what it is supposed to look like when it is done.  Of course, we have an octagonal cement pad and that one is round and it has bricks around it.  We are still mulling over the decision of whether to tile the cement pad or not.  I'm having trouble picking out tiles and then we have to come up with a design...blah blah...I might just paint it and be done with it.

Now, if I could just get some great gardener to put some plants around it like they have in the picture below...that will be next spring's tasking, I reckon...

Today's Max is awesome...I've never seen myself as arrogant, self-righteous, worthy, or anything other than a sinner but God sees beyond that...isn't it amazing!!

"Put On Christ

By Max Lucado

“As many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Galatians 3:27 NKJV

You read it right. We have “put on” Christ. When God looks at us He doesn’t see us; He sees Christ. We “wear” Him. We are hidden in Him; we are covered by Him. As the songs says, “Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.”

Presumptuous, you say? Sacrilegious? It would be if it were my idea. But it isn’t; it’s His."

  1. If we lived close to each other, Tom and Daryl would have such fun together! You and I would keep them so busy helping each other on projects!! I LOVE the pic of the new gazebo!

Mom has been taking good care of me this week. At her advice, I'm not rushing to go back to work when I originally planned. I go see the doc on Wednesday, and he'll decide when I go back, and at what level of activity.

    Love you!

  2. Hey, Babe, So, you are asking me to come and plant some flowers around your gazebo??? Yeah, I know, I can't stay and take care of them, so I guess I will just have to pass on that one. i could help you decide "what to plant" though. My moss roses "portulaca" has done really well here, and doesn't need a lot of watering. It loves sunshine and spreads well. The new gazebo will be beautiful. My advice would be to skip the tiling.
Thanks for the Max, and I'm glad you are still posting. Loven' youn's forever. Mom
