It is almost 5 in the afternoon and we are almost packed and ready to go traveling up to Kentucky to see Tom's family. We are a bit excited to be able to travel again. Tom is really looking forward to seeing his family again and I really hope he gets to connect with his High School/Air Force buddy as well.
My energy level is very good and I've packed enough of my medicines for two weeks in case of emergency. You just never know what kind of a turn life might take you on so it is always good to be prepared. We haven't 'scheduled' anything for this trip so it will just be a 'do things as whims hit us' kind of trip. That is my favorite kind of trip. My boss looked at me like I had two heads when I told him that the other day. I mean, I am a SCHEDULER by trade but don't schedule my vacations...it was just a totally alien thought for him. Ah well, I am who I am...
I have my first mammogram on the 27th of July. I'll be honest, I dread it. It will tell whether all that we have gone through this last year has been worth it or not. They'll be doing my next PET scan to look for any new tumors in some other part of my body probably in October. This will continue (according to my oncologyst for the next 10 years). I'm just not really sure I WANT to know if there are any more tumors. If there are, I would have to make the decision about whether I was going to do anything about them or not. I'm not a quitter but I also don't want to drag Tom through all that again. Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. And MAYBE we won't ever reach that bridge...that is my prayer.
Here is a little Max for today...
"Take Your Heart to the Cross
By Max Lucado
“He willingly gave his life . . . He carried away the sins of many people.” Isaiah 53:12
You can’t go to the cross with just your head and not your heart. It doesn’t work that way. Calvary is not a mental trip. It’s not an intellectual exercise . . .
It’s a heart-splitting hour of emotion . . .
That’s God on that cross. It’s us who put him there."
Amen and amen...

Hey, babe ,,,some of the best vacations Dub and I took were unplanned. The one we took up through Minnesota and surrounding country was a really good one. It was very loosely planned...we did not know exactly where things were to visit or what we would see when we got there. I am hoping you all will have a great time and also that you can just forget about things like xrays and such over the next week or so. Loven' youn's forver. Mom
